How To Use Your LightStim
Take a Picture
Before you use your LightStim for the first time it is very important to take a picture of the area you will be addressing. Improvements generally take place in small increments and can be difficult to see on a daily basis. Take the picture in a room that has no natural light and duplicate the exact lighting again when you take your after pictures.
Using The Light
Wash your face with a good quality skin care product before using the Light. Although optional, results will be more dramatic if used with a high quality anti-aging or moisturizing skin care product. Products containing Retin-A® should only be used after using your LightStim as they may increase sensitivity.
1. Apply the Light directly to the skin and hold it in place for 2 to 3 minutes. There are roughly 10 areas to be addressed on the face.
2. Move the Light to a new area for another 2 to 3 minutes.
3. Continue in this fashion until you have addressed the entire face.
It is highly recommended you use the Light daily as this will provide optimal results. Most people relax in the privacy of their home, watch television, catch up on phone calls, surf the Web, or read a book while using their LightStim.
You are welcome to use the Light more often than once a day if you desire.
Whether its Acne, Rosacea or Aging that you are addressing, keep in mind each of these conditions took time to develop, and each of these conditions may take time to improve. Results range from immediate to several weeks to several months. With patience, diligence and regular use of your LightStim the results are in your hands!
The Rosacea Light
The Rosacea Light works best if used in conjunction with a good quality product designed to help reduce the redness and inflammation connected with Rosacea.
Start using the Light for approximately 5 minutes on the affected areas. The Light will help to reduce the redness and inflammation associated with Rosacea. If you are not seeing any changes in the first few weeks then increase the treatment time to 10 minutes per area.
Once the affected areas have cleared up, a maintenance program of 3 times a week is suggested.
We highly recommend contacting your dermatologist or skin care specialist who can suggest a soothing skin care system designed for Rosacea.
The Acne Light
The Acne Light is most effective if used daily on the affected areas. Teenagers, please be patient and use your Acne Light everyday. Use the light in all areas prone to acne whether currently broken out or not. The Light can be used up to 5 minutes per area.
Once the skin is clear continue to use your Acne Light daily if possible, to kill any acne causing bacteria. Use it while doing homework, watching TV, on the Internet... make your Acne Light a part of your daily lifestyle!
To enhance your Acne Light, LightStim recommends seeing a qualified dermatologist or esthetician along with a good topical acne product. Topical acne products should NOT be used before using your acne Light, but can be applied afterwards.
Care & Cleaning
The LightStim can also be used on other areas of your body such as your neck, chest, hands, etc.
Apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol onto a cotton pad and thoroughly wipe the entire LightStim including the tops of the bulbs. Always let the LightStim dry thoroughly before using again, as it is an electrical device.
Using The LightStim Around Your Eyes
LED lights are very bright, so you should not point the Light directly at your eyes. It is recommended that you close the eye that you are currently using your Light on or near. If your eyes are extra sensitive we recommend eye-shields.
The Infrared Lights
When you turn on your light you will notice that some of the individual LED lights do not light up. This is normal. These are the infrared lights that are not visible to the human eye.
(a) Do not use a power transformer other than the one LightStim has supplied.
(b) If you are pregnant or taking medication (such as Tetracycline) which causes light sensitivity, you should consult your physician before using a LightStim.
